7even Hundred

A Very Special Blog Post

I Know for each Blog Entry we normally go over a different aspect in marketing. But I was thinking that we should make this month extra special.

When I first started 7even Hundred, all I had was a dream, a stack of business cards, and one of my closest friends—my sister, Victoria.

Today, she’s a powerhouse in marketing, production, and branding, wearing multiple hats and making waves in the industry. I had the chance to catch up with her fresh off a flight, and we dove into everything from her career journey to the challenges of staying consistent in a fast-paced digital world.

Making Moves in L.A.

7even Hundred: Vicccc! First off, thank you for making time for this. I know you just got back from L.A.—and was gone for a full week. What were you working on out there?

Vicky: We were working on a launch for Hebru Brantley and his new collection. We transformed his hotel room into a showcase for his pieces—it was super dope. The concept was all about creating a unique space that really brought the art to life.

7even Hundred: That’s amazing. And it just shows how far you’ve come. I remember when we did that Gold Drip photoshoot in my apartment.

Vicky: Yes, lol. We didn’t even think about getting a location!

7even Hundred: I just went to Joann, bought a giant brown piece of fabric, set it up in the living room, and we went to work. My dog was running around trying to ruin the whole thing.

Vicky: But that’s the thing—We made it work. It’s all about being resourceful and adaptable.

Vicky: Exactly. Sometimes, you just have to work with what you have. It teaches you to be quick, flexible, and ready to jump on opportunities.

Building a Personal Brand

7even Hundred: You’ve built such a strong personal brand. What key moments helped shape that?

Vicky: Honestly, it started way back. I’ve always been into streetwear and pop culture, even in middle school. We were always talking about Jordans and fashion—remember when you were running for Best Dressed?

7even Hundred: And you won Best Kicks!

Vicky: Haha, yeah. I know we’re way past high school, but moments like that shaped me. Being around fashion, culture, and people who cared about style—it all made sense.

Wearing Many Hats in the Industry

7even Hundred: You do so much—marketing, production, design. How do you integrate all these roles into cohesive marketing strategies?

Vicky: It’s all about making sure everything aligns. If we’re doing a production, the marketing has to match. If we’re designing something, the branding needs to be consistent. Everything has to work together.

7even Hundred: That makes sense. How did you even get to this point?

Vicky: Watching people before me. When I started my career around 2018-2019, I saw how the industry was shifting. I knew I had to diversify my skill set to stay ahead. The more hats you can wear, the better your chances of success.

The Inspiration Behind Cozy Culture & Glue Control

7even Hundred: What inspired you to start Cozy Culture and Glu Ctrl?

Vicky: Cozy Culture was born during the pandemic. I was in New York, locked down for months, and I wanted to bring that Tumblr aesthetic to Instagram. My cousin encouraged me to post mood boards, and it just took off.

Glu Ctrl came from realizing I could do what other people were doing—but better. After getting laid off last year, I knew I had to create something of my own. I never wanted to be in a position where someone else had control over my career again.

7even Hundred: And that’s why I admire your consistency. You’ve been running Cozy Culture for years now.

Vicky: Yeah, since 2020 or 2021. A lot of people start projects and drop them, but I stay consistent. That’s the key.

Balancing Creativity & Marketing

7even Hundred: How do you balance creativity with marketing?

Vicky: The hardest part is not giving up. Social media is tricky. You see people blowing up overnight, and it’s easy to compare yourself. But I remind myself to stay in my lane and focus on what I’m building.

7even Hundred: I feel that. 7even Hundred is five years old, and while we’re successful, I still want to turn it into a full-blown empire.

Vicky: And you will! It’s all about consistency.

Breaking Into the Marketing Industry

7even Hundred: What advice would you give to someone trying to break into marketing?

Vicky: Network, network, network. This industry is about who you know. And don’t just aim for senior execs—talk to everyone. The person at the front desk today could be the one who gets you in the door tomorrow.

7even Hundred: That’s so true. Front desk people are the plug!

Finding Inspiration & Looking Ahead

7even Hundred: Who or what inspires you the most?

Vicky: For Cozy Culture, definitely Travis Scott, Rihanna, and Teyana Taylor. Their whole vibe influenced the brand. For Glu Ctrl, it’s the women I’ve worked with—bosses who showed me how to navigate this industry.

7even Hundred: Love that. So before we wrap up, any exciting projects coming up?

Vicky: Yes! Glu Ctrl just produced a music video that’s dropping in mid-to-late March. Keep an eye out for that!

7even Hundred: We definitely will. Victoria, thank you so much for sharing your journey and insights with us.

Final Thoughts

Victoria’s story is a testament to resilience, consistency, and the power of connections. Whether it’s Cozy Culture, Glu Ctrl, or her many other ventures, she’s proving that success comes from staying true to your vision and putting in the work.
